Venue Owner Ranking: why income, popularity and tiers affect your rank

Update #5 + October 16 balancing · sources checked October 22, 2026

The short answer

Read the owner-ranking details for the points contributed by your venues. Update 5 removes daily earnings from this ranking, uses the player’s last seven days of income instead of an all-time average, and gives venue tier, popularity and income equal weight.

This is the city’s owner comparison. It is separate from an individual restaurant’s level, its next meal/review requirement and the permit needed to buy another venue.

Nivalis Nights / Owner ranking

Compare the owner, not the venue level.

  1. Income window

Last seven days for the player.

  2. Three inputs

Tier, popularity and income have equal weight.

  3. Additional venues

    Diminishing contribution to the comparison.

What changed in the comparison

Update 5 ranking inputs and limits
FactorOfficial changePractical interpretation
Income windowPlayer income uses the last seven daysAn old all-time average or a single strong day is the wrong comparison.
Relative incomeIncome is relative to the best-performing venues in the cityYour number alone cannot predict a fixed ranking score.
Tier, popularity, incomeEqual weightingInspect all three rather than treating income as the only input.
Additional venuesDiminishing contributionBuying another venue does not promise the same point gain as the previous one.
Story reputationStronger effectKeep story progress distinct from a restaurant’s ordinary level counter.

The update also fixes smaller NPC owners incorrectly having zero popularity, a fault that could affect visits. A corrected competitor value can change the comparison without proving that your own venue lost its saved progression.

Make a useful before-and-after record

  1. Open the ranking details and record the points shown for each owned venue.
  2. Record the venue’s tier, popularity and income information available on that screen.
  3. Check the report period; keep the last-seven-day measure separate from lifetime sales and wallet balance.
  4. Note any new acquisition, story change or patch applied between observations.
  5. Use the detail view again after the same kind of service period. Leave unavailable values unknown.

Choose the business problem behind the rank

If income is weak, trace actual venue costs and completed sales. If visits fail, follow the guest’s service chain. A higher capacity limit helps only when the venue can serve that demand.

Before acquiring another business, check the permit and acquisition requirements. Diminishing ranking contribution means a new purchase is not a guaranteed way to pass another owner. This guide does not invent a numerical score calculator, a top-rank income threshold or a daily reset hour.

If the restaurant itself will not level up

Use the venue-level guide and read that restaurant’s current monitor requirement. Owner rank, permit, skill and venue level are separate screens with separate purposes.

Success here is an explained ranking comparison and a recorded business change. A different city position after the patch is not, by itself, evidence of a corrupted save or a reason to restart.
