Curfew at 2 AM: find a shelter instead of buying another apartment
Before 2 AM, return to your known home if travel is available; after curfew starts, look for a nearby usable shelter and bed. Do not assume you can wait out the night or use unrestricted fast travel after the restrictions begin.
In the October 1–2 Meridian Market discussion, players pointed to residential doors near the taxi area, around the hardware/furniture side. The original poster confirmed finding the shelter there after mistaking its second home-style icon for another rental.
Nivalis Nights / Night-time sleep
Home, rental or shelter?
- Before curfew
Use available travel to your known home.
- After curfew
Inspect accessible shelter doors.
- Rental prompt
Another property is not a required emergency purchase.

Choose between home and emergency shelter
| Situation | Useful action | Avoid assuming |
|---|---|---|
| Still before curfew with home travel available | Select the nested Lowtown apartment destination. | A street arrival and the apartment arrival are identical. |
| Curfew already active in another district | Scan nearby residential doors and read the interaction prompt. | You must purchase a new property to sleep. |
| Inside a matching shelter | Use the available bed and complete the sleep interaction. | Crossing a doorway alone ends the day. |
| Found a rental prompt | Continue looking for an accessible shelter/home option. | Every home icon is a free bed. |
The 2 AM restriction is described in the current curfew guide. Older players also report the clock pausing during curfew, so merely wandering or waiting is not a reliable end-of-night method. Sleep is the practical next action when you have reached a safe usable room.
Meridian Market: check the taxi-side residential doors
- Open the current Curfew objective and confirm it asks for sleep at home or in a shelter.
- Use the nearby-place scan. C is the reported launch-PC key; check bindings if it does not activate.
- Return your search toward the taxi area and the hardware/furniture-side residential doors.
- Inspect more than the first home-style icon. The original poster had found a rental and assumed the next icon was another rental.
- Read the door action and use the accessible sleeping room rather than paying for a property by mistake.
- Once inside, use the bed and check the day transition.
This is an attributed landmark route from a player thread, not surveyed coordinates for every patched save. Several replies describe the same taxi-side area and the original poster reports success. That is more useful than promising a universal compass bearing from any starting position.
A house-shaped marker does not tell you ownership
Your apartment, an available rental and a temporary shelter can all lead you toward residential-looking entrances. The interaction prompt and interior are the useful distinction. A shelter solves the immediate night without becoming your owned home or adding its address to a property catalogue.
Players in the Meridian thread disagree on whether shelter markers appear only after curfew or can also be scanned during daytime. Do not depend on a guaranteed daytime visibility rule. If a marker is absent, check the active objective, nearby scan range and actual door prompts.
| Door or room | What to check |
|---|---|
| Your Lowtown home | The console’s 404-B, Sub-Level 12 address. |
| A rental offer | Cost and rental action; not an emergency-bed requirement. |
| An accessible shelter | A usable sleep interaction without assuming ownership. |
| An inaccessible residential door | Do not infer a hidden sleep option or an eventual purchase. |
Make the night route deliberate
Surveillance and patrols make aimless late-night searching risky. Watch the current camera/drone situation and choose a nearby sleeping destination before adding another detour. This page does not assign one universal fine or promise that every route is safe at every suspicion level.
For a fishing trip, plan fuel, return and sleep before following another offshore signal. The player thread mentions the unlocked boat as another sleep option, but check the boat’s own accessible interaction; do not assume a first-night player already has it.
Success is reaching an appropriate room and completing sleep, not buying a home icon. If sleep or scanning still fails with the correct objective and interaction, record district, build, time, door prompt and journal stage. A missing marker and an unusable bed are different issues.
