Farming & greenhouses
Greenhouse automation and moving harvested food into a venue
Harvest the module yourself, find the output in personal inventory and transfer the needed ingredients into the venue. The current Farming guide does not describe an implemented Manager pickup route from greenhouses.
It says the Level 15 Automatic Harvester perk refers to an upgrade not currently available. An October 10 player thread reports the same limitation. Those are dated guide/player observations, not a developer guarantee about every later build.
Nivalis Nights / Farm-to-kitchen supply
Harvest is only the first destination.
- Ready module
Harvest manually and inspect output.
- Personal inventory
Reserve quest stock and plan storage.
- Venue storage
Transfer useful food and observe recipe use.

Why a visible perk is not proof of working automation
A Farming perk label and an upgrade you can buy at the console are different pieces of evidence. Neoseeker’s current account says the console offers other farming upgrades but not the Automatic Harvester, despite the Level 15 description.
In the October 10 “Greenhouse need automation!” discussion, the poster could not find an automated collection method. The sole reply reports reaching Level 15 and finding the feature unimplemented. This supports a current limitation worth explaining; it does not establish a hidden unlock, confirmed bug repair or mandatory new employee role.
The developer FAQ says grown produce can supply your restaurants or be sold. It does not specify automated collection. Do not assume a restaurant Manager harvests a greenhouse simply because older prelaunch material said so.
Complete the manual greenhouse-to-kitchen route
- Check which active venue recipe needs the crop and how much usable stock it already has.
- Visit the correct greenhouse, choose a ready module and harvest it.
- Inspect personal inventory for the output and returned seed/input.
- Reserve any produce owed to a Green Thumb customer before using it elsewhere.
- Travel to the intended restaurant and open its storage/transfer window.
- Move only the needed output into appropriate free storage, including refrigeration where required.
- Inspect the active recipe and watch a real order use the ingredient.
- Return to the module to replant when that fits your supply routine.
Buying a seed, finishing a harvest and supplying a venue are separate stages. A greenhouse crop can be successful while the restaurant still has zero stock because the output has never left your pockets.
Give the harvest a destination before collecting more
| Purpose | What to preserve | Finish check |
|---|---|---|
| Quest delivery | The named crop and required quantity in personal inventory | The customer’s handover and journal update. |
| Restaurant recipe | Suitable free venue storage and the active menu requirement | The recipe is supplied and an order progresses. |
| Future menu change | A clearly planned use and appropriate storage | Do not misread the current-menu marker as every future need. |
| Surplus sale | Stock not required by another task or active dish | Compare the seller’s actual offer, not a promised margin. |
Update 4 marks ingredients used by the venue’s active menu. That is useful when deciding what to transfer, but it does not show every unfinished quest’s needs. Read the journal before clearing “unused” crops.
If room is full, compare ordinary and refrigerated capacity. Personal inventory is also the documented overflow destination for venue deliveries; that delivery rule is not proof of a greenhouse transport service.
Scale to a routine you can actually maintain
Start with crops used by a real menu and a collection trip you can repeat. More greenhouse modules add more harvesting, storage and transport decisions while the reported automation limitation remains. Do not infer that acquiring another greenhouse makes the current restaurant self-supplying.
Review the venue’s target and daily purchase budget alongside manual supply. A Manager can still be needed for other purchasable ingredients, and a harvest does not guarantee all recipes are replenished.
Success is that you can locate the output at each stage and use it in the intended dish or delivery. If it is not where expected, record the module/specimen, harvest result, personal count, transfer and venue count before presenting the issue as a universal lost-harvest bug.
