Fish Detector and Database: choose the water before casting
Use the Fish Database to choose an area and its conditions, then the Fish Detector to find activity within that area. A detector signal cannot replace a species’ district/time/weather information.
Yellow unusual-object pulses can be submerged salvage, including quest items. They are not a guarantee of fish, valuable loot or the correct Seafaring part.
Nivalis Nights / Targeted fishing
Choose the water before the signal.
- Fish Database
Area, time and weather information.
- Fish Detector
Local activity in suitable water.
- Yellow pulse
Unusual submerged objects, not guaranteed fish.
On this page
Three information sources, three jobs
| Information | What it helps you choose | What it does not guarantee |
|---|---|---|
| Fish Database entry | The target’s listed districts and available time/weather conditions | A catch on every cast in that district. |
| Fish Detector/local activity | Where to cast within suitable water | The identity of every possible catch. |
| Yellow unusual-object signal | Where to investigate submerged salvage | That the item is valuable or the active quest part. |
| Current journal | Which treasure or conversation is active | That a nearby signal completes an earlier/later stage. |
Visible fish and a broad district marker are clues, not an exhaustive species locator. When one missing fish becomes the goal, stop repeating a convenient spot long enough to inspect what the Database actually tells you.
Build one targeted fishing trip
- Choose the missing species rather than merely “more fish.”
- Open its available Database entry and note district, time and weather details.
- Travel to a listed accessible area, using the Putter only if shore access cannot reach the spot.
- Check local fish activity and cast within useful range.
- Identify the catch and update your notes; the same district can produce something else.
- If the target remains missing, compare conditions and location before upgrading the rod.
- Finish with a storage or sale destination for catches you keep.
For entries with limited information, the fishing guide recommends completing catches you can already identify and inspecting new information as the collection progresses. This page does not invent the undiscovered entries.
Use an early species as a location example
Whisper reports Stickleback in the Docks, Mountain Town and Sewers Database entry. That gives several search destinations; it does not establish an unconditional catch rate or all time/weather details.
| Field | Record from your game |
|---|---|
| Target | The exact species still missing |
| Area | The listed district and actual water you visited |
| Conditions | Time/weather if the entry specifies them |
| Signal | Fish activity versus unusual-object pulse |
| Result | Fish/salvage name and whether the target was caught |
| Next choice | Another suitable spot, conditions change or a return trip |
Pike and Burbot appear in the source’s early-trip discussion, but this guide does not turn those sightings into a full city-wide location table. A complete all-species guide needs verified entries for each species.
When repeated casts produce salvage instead
A lamp, bracelet or ordinary material is not automatically a broken rod. Read the item and decide whether it belongs to a current quest or is simply surplus. If the task is fishing, return your attention to fish activity and the intended species conditions.
For Salt Pete’s hunt, the key test is the actual Old Android item, not merely finding a yellow pulse. The Sewers route has nearby signals that can produce ordinary salvage, so use the Logic Unit branch rather than repeating the first marked circle indefinitely.
Success is a search whose location and conditions you can explain, followed by the target catch or a specific next comparison. No detector radius, rod bonus or fixed number of casts is presented as a guaranteed solution.
